It sure didn't take long for the Media to find a new Baseball sob story to grab hold of. This morning a prominent radio station sports guy was talking about the Cubs not having won the Series in 96 years and how there is plenty to be upset about with that team. (If you don't follow Baseball closely, the Cubs have their own curse that they blame their failures on. A goat.)
The Yankee blogging crew has been discussing this exact thing recently, and here it is. Neither Chicago team has won a Series in a longer period of time than Boston. It may be their turn to be 'the story.'
The Red Sox haven't even finished celebrating yet and their media love fest may be over. It's gonna be interesting to see who else jumps on this bandwagon.

I am a huge fan of great baseball. If I won the powerball my first irresponsible thing to do would be to take a tour of all the baseball stadiums and such. Having said this, I would never want that love of baseball taken away from me.
That is the reason I will never root for the Cubs. Just like the goat the Mr. Wrigley wouldn't allow in, Steve Bartman will put his curse on them. I will not say that Steve was right or wrong, only that no matter how old, young, stupid, annoying, fat or thin you are there are no rules for loving baseball. That night the fans of the Cubs took away Steve's love of the game. That is just plain wrong.
Sorry, just realized how long this comment was...:)
Never apologize for having an honest opinion, Nina, no matter how long or short.
You are so right about the Bartman thing. I didn't think about that. I'm now wondering how he's making out and if he's still a Baseball fan. Hmmm. If the media turns it's blame-hungry face toward the Cubs, he'll probably be an even bigger villan.
For Fishy:
The Curse of the Goat
According to Clark Maxfield, the name comes from a locally-famous curse: Sam Gianis, owner of the Billygoat Tap, which was inspiration for John Belushi's "cheesborger, cheeseborger" routine, tried to bring a billygoat to a Chicago Cubs game in the '40's.
When he was kicked out unceremoniously, he cursed the Cubs, saying that they'd never win the pennant again until a billygoat sat in Wrigley Field....and for 50+ years, they have not.
That's the curse. Be sure the media will grab onto that one soon since there's none left in Boston.
By the way, I like the Tigers. They looked vastly improved this year. They won in 1984. Those were the Sparky Anderson years. They were fun to watch back then.
